Preferred Season

It is best to visit Jerusalem from May to July and from September to mid November. In the winter (end of November to the end of March) temperatures drop drastically, mercury might drop below 0°c overnight. Most winter days are rainy and there are even a few days of snow every year (a breathtaking sight). Summer time (July to August) is hot during the day but still more pleasant then the rest of country.
It is advised to check the weekly forecast in advance and carry warm clothing for the niUltra orthodox Jews during the Purim festival (March)ght time even in mid summer.

Language
The formal language in Jerusalem is Hebrew. Arabic is mainly used in the eastern part of the city. Most residents of Jerusalem speak reasonable English, at the western part you will also find many French and Russian speakers.
Capital City
Jerusalem is the capital city of Israel. It houses the Israeli Parliament, Supreme Court and most of the chief governmental offices. Foreign embassies head offices are generally located in Tel Aviv.

Jerusalem is a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
